Routes and Tours

Let us inspire you with ideas of routes and tours. Whether it's by foot, bike, boat or horseback, The National Forest has plenty of peaks, pathways, bridleways and waterways for you to explore.

By Foot
With 700 miles of woodlands and countryside to discover, the gentle landscape of The National Forest is ideal for a gentle stroll or something a little more long distance.

Pedal Power
Cycle along heritage trails, circuits and pathways. You can bring along your own bike or go to Just Bikes, Rosliston Forestry Centre or the National Forest Cycle Centre which will be open in early summer 2011.

By Water
Enjoy life on the water and spend the day, or a few, discovering The National Forest scenery and picturesque waterways from onboard a canal boat or beside the water. Why not try your hand at sailing or windsurfing at Staunton Harold Reservoir or enjoy the peace and tranquility at Thornton Reservoir followed by a cup of tea at Thornton Nurseries.

Horseback

With bridleways, grass tracks and private tracks you can take in the views of The National Forest from horseback. As well as off-road riding there are a number of licensed riding centres in The National Forest.
